Responsibilities and tasks
- Clean, peel, slice and prepare vegetables, fruits and other food items
- Prepare and portion simple food items
- Replenish condiments and supplies in work areas
- Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pans using dishwashers or by hand
- Sanitize and wash kitchen equipment, utensils and work surfaces
- Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas
- Remove kitchen garbage and trash
- Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food preparation areas
- Assist cooks and kitchen staff with basic food preparation and kitchen support duties
- Follow sanitation, food safety and workplace safety procedures
