Caregiver / Support Worker – Special Needs Child

Description

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and reliable caregiver to provide in-home support for our 13-year-old daughter with developmental delays. She is non-verbal and requires assistance with daily routines, personal care, and engaging activities in a safe and supportive home environment.

This role is ideal for someone who is caring, dependable, and experienced working with children or individuals with special needs.

Position Details

• Position Type: Full-Time
• Hours: Approximately 30 hours per week
• Schedule: Monday to Thursday, with occasional Saturdays as needed
• Location: In-home position in Ottawa

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily routines and personal care
• Support with bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
• Provide supervision and ensure safety at all times
• Engage in age-appropriate activities and companionship
• Assist with light tidying related to caregiving duties
• Maintain a calm, positive, and respectful environment
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding routines and needs

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities or special needs preferred
• Patient, compassionate, and dependable
• Comfortable assisting with personal care
• Ability to follow routines and instructions closely
• CPR/First Aid certification is an asset
• Vulnerable Sector Check may be required
• Non-smoker preferred
