Job requirements

Languages: English

Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years

Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year

Ability to Supervise: 3-4 people

Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots, Gloves

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Tight deadlines, Physically demanding, Attention to detail, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Large workload

Work Location Information: Rural area

Work Site Environment: Dusty, Outdoors, Odours

Personal Suitability: Organized, Team player, Excellent oral communication

Additional Skills: Maintain work records and logs, Perform general farm duties, Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, Hire and train staff

Area of Specialization: Agricultural crop service

Equipment and Machinery Experience: Tractor, Harvesters, Vegetable or fruit harvester

Landscape and Horticulture Technicians and Specialists Specific Skills: Seed cutting, Mixing fertilizer, Harvesting seedlings, Tying, Weeding

Specific Skills – Field Crops: Vegetable culling

Type of Farm Operations: Organic farming, Fruit and vegetable combination farming

Agricultural Service Contractors Specific Skills: Soil fertility programs, Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures, Maintain financial and production records, Provide agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying or harvesting, Negotiate with clients for provision of services

Farm Supervisors Specific Skills: Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers, Supervise and oversee growing and other crop-related operations, Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs, Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed, Maintain quality control and production records, Develop work schedules and establish procedures
