Located in the heart of British Columbia’s beautiful Fraser Valley, Menzies Pet Hospital provides exceptional diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive pet health care seven days a week. We are currently seeking a qualified Veterinary Technician to join our busy practice. This is a full-time, permanent position at our clinic location in Chilliwack, BC.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Veterinary Technician will provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for patients; handle, restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery; produce radiographs, collect and analyze samples, and perform other laboratory tests to assist in the diagnosis of animal health problems; assist the veterinarian with animals before, during and following surgery by preparing surgical equipment, administering and monitoring anaesthetics, and cleaning up after surgery; assist the veterinarian during physical examinations and other healthcare procedures; prepare and administer medications under the direction of the veterinarian; administer treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian, including wound and bandage care; conduct specialized procedures sch as animal identification; educate and advise clients on animal health care, including nutrition and home care; assist in laboratory research; perform routine animal dental health procedures and assist the veterinarian with animal dentistry; maintain daily patient records on Avimark veterinary software; and perform a variety of office management and clerical duties, as required. Overtime is available if desired.
Requirements
Successful completion of a two-year animal health/veterinary technology program is required for this position. A registered veterinary technician license is an asset. Strong English communication (reading, writing, speaking) skills required.
Salary & Benefits
The position pays between $18.00 and $23.00 per hour, based on education and years of experience, and on a 40 hour work week. Benefits include extended health care and dental coverage.
