Job Summary:
ASR Group Ltd is seeking a skilled and dependable Carpenter to support residential and commercial construction projects across Brampton and nearby regions. The successful candidate will be responsible for framing, installing structural and finishing components, performing repairs and renovations, and ensuring all work meets company and Ontario Building Code standards. This role requires strong craftsmanship, the ability to work safely in fast‑paced and sometimes noisy or dusty environments, and effective coordination with supervisors, trades, and apprentices.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, sketches, and site instructions to determine project specifications, material requirements, and sequencing of carpentry tasks for residential and commercial builds.
- Prepare accurate layouts in compliance with Ontario Building Code requirements using measuring tools, levels, squares, and marking equipment to ensure structural accuracy and alignment.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood, engineered wood products, wood substitutes, and light‑gauge steel materials for framing, finishing, and custom carpentry applications.
- Construct and install structural components including foundations, floor beams, joists, subflooring, wall framing, partitions, and roof systems for new builds, additions, and renovation projects.
- Fit, install, and adjust interior and exterior finish components such as doors, windows, stairs, railings, baseboards, casings, mouldings, cabinetry, and hardware to meet project specifications and client requirements.
- Perform maintenance, repair, and renovation work on residential homes, commercial units, and wood‑based structures, including demolition, reconstruction, reinforcement, and restoration tasks.
- Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and carpentry equipment safely, ensuring compliance with company safety policies and provincial occupational health and safety regulations.
- Inspect completed work for accuracy, structural integrity, and conformance to drawings, specifications, and quality standards, making adjustments as required.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, subcontractors, and other trades to ensure efficient workflow, material availability, and timely project completion.
- Guide and support apprentices and general labourers by demonstrating proper carpentry techniques, safe tool handling, and quality workmanship standards.
- Assist in preparing material lists, labour estimates, and cost approximations for small‑scale projects or client quotations when required.
Requirements:
Proficiency in English
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant experience
Work Environment
