Caregiver for a person with disabilities

The Khan Family in Surrey, BC, is looking for a compassionate and reliable caregiver to provide personal care and support to a young individual with disabilities. This is a permanent, full-time position with working hours from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the child’s safety, comfort, and well-being at all times.

Job Duties

• Provide personal care and companionship to the client, including support with daily routines and emotional well-being
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, and mobility, including use of mobility aids as needed.
• Provide bedside and personal care, including bathing, grooming, personal hygiene, dressing and undressing
• Plan and prepare meals according to any special dietary requirements, and feed or assist with feeding as needed
• Administer or assist with the administration of medication under the parent’s supervision.
• Perform light housekeeping duties directly related to the client's care, including laundry, making beds, and tidying the client's living space
• Respond promptly to the client's needs at any time during the work schedule.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive home environment

Requirements

• Secondary school education required
• Prior experience providing home support, caregiving, or personal care to persons with disabilities is preferred
• Completion of a training program in caregiving, personal support work, or care of persons with disabilities is an asset
• Current First Aid/CPR certification required (or willingness to obtain)
• Physically able to assist with transfers and mobility support
• Compassionate, patient, reliable, and able to work independently

Wage: $24.50/hour

Language of Work: English

Work location: Near the intersection of 138 St. and 64 Ave, Surrey, BC.
