Agricultural worker required for a farm in Duncan, British Columbia located in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. Accommodation provided with private bedroom semi-private washroom. Wages are $16 per hour for a 40-hour week working Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with one hour off for lunch and two paid fifteen-minute breaks per day. Overtime not customary but if required over 44 hours per week, hourly salary increases to $24/hour. Employee will be enrolled in the provincial medical insurance programme providing hospital and medical insurance. The Agricultural Worker will also be enrolled in the provincial worker’s compensation programme. The employee will receive two weeks paid vacation per week and 2% of wages will be contributed by the employer to a personal pension plan. Employer will pay the initial costs of transportation to the work site and return costs as well after three years of employment. The conditions and terms of employment will be set forth in an employment contract. Proficiency in English required. Completion of secondary education and at least one year of post-secondary education required; prefer applicant with additional post-secondary training/education and experience in both agriculture and small building and mechanical repairs. Experience in greenhouse and field agriculture a decided benefit. Crops include blueberries, lavender and both field and greenhouse greens and market gardens. Driver’s license or ability to acquire a British Columbia driver’s licence a requirement.
