Ten Brummelhuis Dairy Ltd., located near Olds, Alberta, is seeking a full-time Dairy Farm Foreman/Woman to support the day-to-day operation of its organic dairy farm.

The Dairy Farm Foreman/Woman will oversee dairy-herd operations and related on-farm crop and forage activities that support feed production for the herd. The position requires compliance with the farm’s organic-production standards, animal-welfare practices, farm-safety procedures, and biosecurity requirements.

Salary: $24.00 hourly / 30 to 50 hours per week – 30 is minimum required hours.

Job Requirements

Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years

On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Job Duties

• Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers
• Supervise milking operations to ensure work is done correctly
• Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs
• Monitor animal health
• Diagnose livestock health issues
• Treat livestock health issues
• Monitor the calving process
• Supervise seasonal crop and forage work for dairy-herd feed production.
• Maintain field and organic-production records.
• Monitor crop and forage conditions and organize related field work.
• Formulate feeding programs
• Maintain livestock performance records
• Maintain quality-control and production records
• Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and biosecurity procedures
• Ensure farm safety and biosecurity procedures are followed
• Organize tasks to accomplish the work
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
• Handle livestock
• Select livestock for sale
• Maintain work records and logs
• Oversee activities related to clearing fields, pens, and work areas
• Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas
• Perform general farm duties
