Description
Microcolor Dispersions is seeking an experienced Chemistry (Paint) Laboratory Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our paint laboratory. The successful candidate will supervise a team of paint technicians while ensuring laboratory testing, quality standards, safety, and efficient workflow in a paint and specialty chemicals environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the work of paint laboratory technicians and the daily operations of the paint laboratory
- Develop and formulate custom colour and pigment dispersions for use in plastisols, organosols, flexible and rigid polyurethane foam, waterborne and solvent-borne paints and stains, and specialty printing inks.
- Conduct tests and analysis using spectroscopy techniques
- Maintain, operate and calibrate laboratory equipment
- Set up, conduct and supervise chemical experiments, tests, and analyses to to develop and optimize paint, coating, and colourant formulations; and review and verify test results
- Use and supervise the use of laboratory techniques such as spectroscopy and physical and chemical separation techniques
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Use Microsoft Office for laboratory documentation and reporting
- Develop laboratory standards, and laboratory health and safety measures
- Compile records and interpret experimental or analytical results
- Develop and conduct programs of sampling an analysis to maintain quality standards
- Train laboratory personnel on laboratory procedures, equipment operation, safe work practices, and quality standards.
Qualifications
- College diploma or degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Chemical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a chemistry laboratory for colour dispersions and paint manufacturing
- Demonstrated experience in product development and colour dispersions within the paints, pigments, coatings, or chemical manufacturing industry.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to accurately distinguish colours.
Working Conditions

- Requires attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
