Eastern Ontario Mushroom Producers Ltd. requires a full-time Agriculture Manager (Mushroom Grower Compost Manager) to perform the following duties:

Salary: $30.68/hour/ 40-60 hours per week

Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time, Morning, Night, Day, Weekend, Overtime required

Languages: English

Education: Bachelor's degree

Experience: 5 years or more

On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Work site environment: Dusty, Hot, Noisy, Odours, Mushrooms

Work setting: Rural area

Tasks

Implement soil fertility programs

• Plan, organize, and oversee Phase 3 compost production to meet required production volumes, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
• Establish and update production processes, operating schedules, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.
• Coordinate daily bunker and tunnel operations, including raw-material handling, aeration, filling, spawning, and climate-control activities
• Monitor the quality, availability, and use of raw materials—including straw, manure, gypsum, and approved additives—and adjust production methods as needed to maintain consistent output

Mixing fertilizer

• Oversee procedures for preparing, mixing, and applying liquid manure and other compost inputs safely and consistently.

Maintain farm machinery, equipment and buildings

• Direct or coordinate the operation and maintenance of bunker aeration systems, tunnel climate units, and related production equipment.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs to minimize production interruptions.
• Develop and enforce health-and-safety procedures for compost-production operations

Manage overall operation of farm

• Contribute technical expertise relating to compost production and agricultural operations

Maintain financial and production records

• Monitor compost quality, laboratory standards, production records, and compost passports; investigate production issues and implement corrective measures
• Maintain production, inventory, quality, safety, and maintenance records, and report operational results to management

Develop and implement health and safety plans

• Develop and enforce health-and-safety procedures for compost-production operations.
• Implement continuous-improvement practices to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and use of materials.

Recruit, hire and supervise staff

• Train, schedule, direct, and evaluate production employees, where applicable; communicate production priorities and ensure procedures are followed.
