Job Description: Capra Transport Inc. is hiring 6 full-time permanent Long Haul Truck Driver.
Job Duties:
- Operate straight or semi-trailer trucks weighing 40,000–47,000 kg with three or more axles to transport goods and materials safely over long distances in various weather and road conditions.
- Plan efficient routes, rest periods, and delivery schedules to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries while meeting customer requirements.
- Prepare and review customs and transit documentation to facilitate efficient border crossings.
- Conduct mandatory pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer, including tires, brakes, lights, doors, seals, and safety equipment.
- Monitor vehicle performance, perform basic troubleshooting such as fluid top-ups and replacing fuses or light bulbs, and promptly report mechanical issues, safety defects, accidents, or cargo concerns to dispatch and maintenance personnel.
- Load, unload, secure, and inspect cargo using approved straps, chains, locks, and other securement devices to ensure safe transportation.
- Monitor the condition and temperature of sensitive or perishable goods throughout transit.
- Maintain accurate driver logbooks and Hours of Service (HOS) records using Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs).
- Complete and manage transportation documentation, including bills of lading, manifests, permits, customs paperwork, and fuel and toll receipts.
- Comply with all applicable local, state/provincial, and federal transportation laws, including weight limits, speed regulations, and safety requirements.
- Maintain effective communication with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, customers, and border officials using onboard communication systems and mobile devices.
- Represent the company professionally at all pickup and delivery locations while maintaining high standards of safety, customer service, and professionalism.
- Perform emergency roadside repairs and basic vehicle maintenance as required.
Credentials (certificate s, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.): Class one driver license or Equivalent Heavy License with the air brake (Z) endorsement and driver’s abstract or equivalent.
Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, bill of lading, inspection report (pre-trip. en-route, post-trip), trans-border documentation, maintenance and repair reports, trip reports.
Transportation/ Travel Information: Willing to travel cross-border, willing to travel for extended periods (at least 2-4 days away from home), willing to travel overnight, willing to drive as a team.
