Starchild Cenre located at Mill Bay, BC is looking for permanent, full-time Early Childhood Educator (ECE). Candidates must have a passion of working with young children ages 0-5 years

Job Position: Early Childhood Educator (ECE) 
Number of Openings: 1 
Anticipated start date: As soon as possible
Language at Work: English 
 
Job Duties: 
– Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children 
– Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest 
_ Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
– Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits 
_ Encourage children to express creativity through the media of art,dramatic play,music and physical activity 
– Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor 
– Establish guidelines for behaviour 
– Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members 
_ Attend staff meetings to discuss progress of children
– Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children 
– Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
 
Job Requirement: 
-Education: College/CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma of 1 year to 2 years
-Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years
-BC Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate is required
-Montessori Early Childhood Teacher Certificate
-Criminal record check 
-Medical exam
 
Term: Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours per week) 
Wage: $21.00 to $24.00 ( to be negotiated )
