We are currently looking for a baker to join our team!

• Position: Baker
• Work Hours: 40 hours (Day, Weekend, Flexible hours, Overtime may be required)
• Wage: $18.00 per hour
• Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
• Start date: ASAP
• Benefits: 10 days of paid vacation after 1 year of working continuously
• Work Location: 2627 Shaughnessy St #155, Port Coquitlam, BC V3C 0E1

Key duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure products meet quality standards and identify any damaged or expired goods
• Prepare dough for tarts, bread, rolls, and sweet goods, and mix batters for scones, cookies, and cakes based on recipes or specific customer requests
• Shape sourdough breads, cookies and other goods manually
• Bake the combined doughs and batters
• Blend various ingredients to make fillings for pastries and tarts
• Decorate flat tarts and other baked items, and create custom pastries for special orders or seasonal requirements
• Plan the production schedule to determine the types and amounts of goods to be produced
• Potentially train and oversee new baking staff and kitchen employees
• Operate machinery and adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking
• Clean kitchen equipment and tools before and after use

Requirements/Education and other requirements

• Completion of secondary school is required
• Successful completion of a Pastry and/or Culinary Diploma or 1-2 years of commercial baking experience is required
• Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters
• Excellent time-management skills and flexibility to work in early morning shifts
• Understanding of food safety practices
• Ability to lift 23 Kg (50 lbs)
