Job Duties:
- Develop and implement childcare programs supporting the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
- Lead activities such as storytelling, teaching songs, and excursions to local points of interest
- Provide creative opportunities through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
- Guide and assist children with eating, dressing, and toilet habits
- Observe and report potential learning or behavioral problems to parents, guardians, or supervisors
- Understand and comply with the Daycare Services Act and licensing regulations
- Establish behavioral guidelines
- Maintain a healthy, secure, and safe environment for children
- Collaborate with co-workers and community service providers
- Assess children's abilities, interests, and needs, and discuss progress or issues with parents and staff
- Supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers
- Order supplies and equipment
- Maintain daycare equipment and assist with housekeeping and cooking duties
- Attend staff meetings to discuss children's progress and problems
Requirements:
-Education: A bachelor's degree or college diploma is required.
-Experience: Experience an asset
-Valid ECE license is required
-Satisfactory criminal record check is required
-Able to work independently
-Strong interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication.
-Valid First Aid certificate
Early Childhood Educator Assistant Skills
Discuss children’s progress and issues during staff meetings; Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers; Support early childhood educators in implementing programs that foster physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development; Engage children in activities such as storytelling, singing, and crafting; Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods; Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
Additional Skills
Supervise staff, trainees, and volunteers; Order and manage supplies and equipment; Maintain daycare equipment and assist with housekeeping and cooking duties; Help early childhood educators or supervisors with record-keeping; Attend staff meetings to discuss children’s progress and issues; Supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and assistants.
Salary:
$21.00 – $23.00 CAD hourly plus $6.00 CAD BC Early Childhood Educator wage enhancement
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (7 AM – 6 PM), with an 8-hour workday and a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.
Benefits: Extended plan available after 90 days
