Job Summary:

The In-Home Senior Caregiver will provide personal care and in-home support to the employer's mother, a female senior with a chronic neurodegenerative health condition. This is a full-time position with an immediate start date. The caregiver will work in the employer’s private household, which includes the care recipient, the employer, and the employer’s spouse and child.

Optional live-in housing is available to the caregiver at no cost but is not required for employment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide in-home care for a female senior care recipient with chronic health conditions in the employer’s Scarborough residence;
• Attend to care recipient’s physical and emotional wellbeing;
• Assist the care recipient with daily activities and attend to her daily routine;
• Ensure that the care recipient’s living environment is safe, clean, and organized;
• Help the care recipient’s with mobility and help her navigate living spaces;
• Prepare and cook meals for the care recipient and assist in feeding;
• Conduct personal hygiene tasks for the care recipient, including bathing, dressing and undressing, and grooming;
• Launder the care recipient’s clothes and wash and sterilize all medical and feeding supplies; 
• Assist the care recipient with routine health-related tasks, including administering medication and performing other health care duties;
• Occasionally accompany client for out-of-house appointments as required, ensuring their safety; 
• Maintain health records and reports for care recipient, regularly communicating updates on status of the care recipient to the employer;
• Other duties as required.

Minimum Skills Requirements:

• Completion of an HCA/CCA/PSW certificate program, OR post-secondary program in nursing, personal support work, home support or a related field is required;
• Prior experience providing private or public home health care, nursing, personal support, or other related care services is strongly preferred;
• First Aid Certificate is an asset;
• Fluency in written and verbal English is required;
• Must be dependable, reliable, and have effective communication skills;
• Must be organized and adapt well to fast-paced environments.
