Position Info:

• Position: Optician
• Terms of employment: Full-time, Permanent
• Wage: $34.62~$37.00/hour (depending on experience)
• Working Hours: 30-40 hours/week
• Number of Positions:  1
• Work Location: 2041 West 41^st Avenue, Vancouver, BC V6M 1Y7

Job Duties:

• Obtain specifications for eyeglasses or contact lenses from an existing prescription
• Evaluate the client’s current eyewear and take required measurements
• Utilize optical measurement devices
• Provide guidance to clients on selecting eyeglasses, informing them of different products such as lens materials, frames, tints, and anti-reflection coating
• Adjust contact lenses and inform clients on use and care
• Grind, polish, cut and edge lenses or have them prepared by a laboratory before inserting them into the frame
• Adjust the final pair of eyeglasses to ensure a proper fit for the client

Job requirements:

• Language: English
• Education: A college diploma or certificate in ophthalmic dispensing or optical sciences is required
• Certificate: Licensing by a regulatory body for opticians is required
• Experience: Experience is an asset
