We are hiring a proactive 3rd Cook to join our team. The 3rd Cook supports the kitchen team at Coast Discovery Inn’s D.I. Restaurant & Lounge by assisting in meal preparation and cooking while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. This role contributes to the overall success of the hotel by delivering exceptional customer service and specialized support within the kitchen.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals accurately by following recipes, build sheets, and presentation guidelines, using various cooking methods including grilling, boiling, baking, and frying.
- Measure, weigh, and mix ingredients precisely to meet portion and quality standards.
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as slicing, chopping, seasoning, and plating to ensure consistency and quality.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety by ensuring sanitary cooking conditions and adhering to hygiene regulations.
- Receive, inspect, and properly store food deliveries; manage inventory, rotate stock, and minimize waste through proper handling.
- Report defective or malfunctioning equipment immediately to the culinary leadership team.
- Provide support to kitchen team members during busy service periods to ensure timely and efficient meal production.
- Monitor inventory levels, food waste, and supply usage to support cost-effective kitchen operations.
- Uphold Coast Hotels standards for food quality, freshness, appearance, and guest satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively with service staff to coordinate smooth and professional food service.
- Assist in cleaning duties including fridges, freezers, and kitchen equipment; ensure safe operation and maintenance of all kitchen tools.
- Support a safe and secure work environment by following health and safety protocols and security procedures.
- Stay adaptable and open to feedback, process improvements, and additional tasks assigned by the culinary leadership team.
Employment requirements:
- Completion of secondary school.
- Several years of cooking experience or completion of college or other programs in cooking.
- Food Safety Certificate, or willingness to obtain before the employment start date.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays.
