Description

We have an opening for Sous Chef (NOC 62200) at our restaurant Chaipeedika (Fan International Inc.) located at 6980 Maritz Dr, Unit 12, Mississauga, ON L5W 1Z3. Chaipeedika specializes in South Indian cuisine and offers dine-in and take-out services. This is a fast-paced environment suited for a team-oriented person. The successful candidate will prepare food for dine-in and take-out service, supervise kitchen staff, and ensure food is prepared according to food safety guidelines, recipes, and quality standards.

 

As a Sous Chef you will perform some or all of the following duties –

·         Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff

·         Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers

·         Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions

·         Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances

·         Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards

·         Recruit and hire staff

·         Supervise activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs and cooks

·         Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items

·         Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food

·         Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food

 

Job requirements

Supervision: 1-2 People
Languages: English

Education: College/CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience.

Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years

Cuisine: South Indian
