Job Summary: The retail butcher is responsible for the cleaning, preparing, cutting, and packaging of various meats for sale in our grocery store. This role also involves preparing meats for customers, wholesale and grocery special orders.

Job Responsibilities:

• Cut, trim and prepare standard cuts of meat;

• Carve poultry into parts for individual sales;
• Ensure necessary hygiene standards are maintained prior to further preparation and packaging;
• De-bone a variety of meat types and cuts;
• Process a variety of select meat, including, but not limited to, poultry, beef and lamb;
• Operate specialty equipment to grind and slice meat;
• Season and stuff specialty sausages;
• Weigh, price, wrap and package prepared meats;
• Address the retail needs of the store and sell meats to customers;
• Take directions from clients who request special orders and prepare said orders; and
• Follow all governmental safety protocols and company safety guidelines during work shifts.

Minimum Skills Requirements:

• Completion of Secondary School is required;
• At least one year of experience in working in meat processing roles (i.e. butcher, meat cutter or trimmer) is required,
• Halal Cutting Knowledge is preferred.
