Employer: The Harjit Kaur Family

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

Hours: 40 hours per week

Wage: $24.50 per hour

Language of Work: English; ability to speak in Punjabi would be considered an asset.

Job Summary

The Harjit Kaur Family, a private household in Aldergrove, BC, is seeking a reliable and compassionate Home Support Worker to provide care, companionship and support to 2 elderly family members. The successful candidate will assist with daily living activities, personal care and light household duties, helping to maintain the comfort, dignity and well-being of the individual in their care.

Main Duties

  • Provide care and companionship during the day, when the family is not home.
  • Administer assistance with ambulation, when needed.
  • Plan, prepare and serve meals according to dietary needs and restrictions
  • Perform light housekeeping duties related to the care of the individuals (laundry, tidying living and care areas)
  • Accompany the individual to medical appointments, errands and outings as required
  • Monitor and report changes in the individual's health, mood or behaviour to family members
  • Assist with mobility, transfers and use of mobility aids as needed
  • Administer or remind the individual to take prescribed medication, as directed
  • Provide emotional support and engage the individual in social and recreational activities
  • Maintain a safe, clean and comfortable home care environment

Employment Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school is required
  • Completion of a college or other program in home support, health care aide, personal support work, or a related field is required, or a minimum of 6 months of experience caring for the elderly, in required.
  • Compassionate, patient and reliable, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Physically able to assist with lifting, transferring and mobility support
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

 

Work location: Near the intersection of 52 Ave and 248 St, Aldergrove, BC.
