Location: 121006 RGE RD 213/SE 9-12-21-W4, Picture Butte, AB T0K 1V0

Salary: $18.34 hourly / 40-50 hours per week

Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time, Morning, Day, Weekend, Overtime required

Starts as soon as possible

Job Requirements

Languages: English

Education: No degree, certificate or diploma

Experience: Experience an asset

Experience and Specialization: Equipment and machinery experience: Automated manure handling or storage system, Feeding and watering system

On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Work site environment: Hog and pig farming, Hog management, Hot, Dusty, Noisy, Odours, Dirty

Work setting: Rural area

Area of specialization: Swine, Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently, Physically demanding, Repetitive tasks, Attention to detail, Handling heavy loads, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Large workload

Personal suitability: Organized, Team player, Judgement, Reliability
Transportation/travel information: Public transportation is not available

Job Duties

  • Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration
  • Handling animals
  • Marking livestock as proof of ownership
  • Monitoring animal health, Treat livestock health issues
  • Weaning
  • Feed and tend animals, Perform livestock feeding
  • Maintain quality control and production records, Maintain livestock performance records
  • Select livestock for sale
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment ie Automated manure handling or storage system, Feeding and watering system
  • Clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens
  • Maintain work records and logs
  • Perform general farm duties
