Job Duties:
Reporting to the Home Support Supervisor, the CCA is responsible for providing service to clients in accordance with the individual care plan
-Provide personal care (e.g. bathing, dressing, grooming)
-Perform light housekeeping duties
-Meal preparation
-Provide respite for families and care givers
-Documentation (e.g. reporting client concerns, progress notes, incident reports)
-Empty bed pans; bathe, dress and groom clients; serve meals, feed or assist in feeding of clients and assist clients with menu selection; weigh, lift, turn, and position clients.
-Take clients’ blood pressure, temperature and pulse; report or record fluid intake and output; observe or monitor clients’ status and document patient care on charts; administer first aid in emergency situations; collect specimens such as urine or feces.
-Make beds and maintain clients’ room
-Complete other tasks as required
Job Requirements:
Job Skills:
-Completion of Standard First Aid and CPR C
-Availability to work days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
-Previous related experience preferred
-Good interpersonal and communication skills
-Able to maintain regular and consistent attendance
Employment Requirement:
• Have the ability to meet the physical requirements of the job including safe lifting, push, pull and bending with demonstrated use of proper body mechanics
• Maintain confidentiality concerning residents, staff and organizational information
• Some Secondary education and on the job training or a nursing aide or healthcare aide, college or private institution program or a college nursing program
• Completion of a Standard First Aid and CPR C upon arrival in Canada.
• After work permit approval/arrival in Canada, the applicant must obtain a valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and/ or have access to a reliable vehicle.
