Description
We are looking for a well experienced Sous Chef for a well-known catering firm “Mcewan Enterprises Inc” located at 38 Karl Fraser Road, Toronto, ON M3C 0H7, Canada.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct daily kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring seamless service delivery across McEwan Group restaurants and catering events.

Supervise and coordinate the activities of line cooks, prep staff, and apprentices to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.

Train and mentor kitchen staff in knife skills, cooking methods, plating techniques, and safe equipment operation.

Prepare and cook complex dishes, sauces, and specialty meals, upholding McEwan Group’s standards of flavour, presentation, and consistency.

Collaborate with the Executive Chef in menu planning, contributing to the creation of seasonal specials and globally inspired dishes.

Participate in the development and execution of catering menus for weddings, corporate functions, and large-scale events.

Oversee requisitioning, receiving, and stock rotation of premium ingredients to ensure freshness and minimize waste.

Monitor portion control and implement strategies to reduce spoilage, contributing to effective cost management.

Enforce strict food safety, sanitation, and allergen protocols in compliance with health regulations and McEwan’s internal standards.

Evaluate kitchen staff performance and provide constructive feedback to support professional growth and skill advancement.

Assist in supplier relations by supporting the sourcing of seasonal, local, and premium products consistent with McEwan Group’s culinary philosophy.

Support special projects such as pop-up concepts, tasting menus, and seasonal promotions, providing creative and operational input.
Prerequisites:
Education: Secondary (high school) diploma or equivalent.
Experience & Skills: 3 years to less than 5 years in the food industry.
Language: English
Hourly Rate: $36.00 – $38.00 per hour, based on a 30–44 hour work week.
Starting Date: As soon as possible
Terms of Employment: Full-time and permanent
Benefits: 4 % Vacation Pay,
