 (Sous Chef)

 

We are looking for a well-experienced Sous Chef  to work for Sula Indian Restaurant Commercial Drive, 1128 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC, V5L 3X2, Canada.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Support the Head Chef in planning, organizing, and overseeing kitchen operations to ensure smooth day-to-day service delivery.

  • Prepare and cook Indian specialty dishes, including gravies, rice preparations, breads, and tandoor items, in accordance with standardized recipes.

  • Supervise food preparation and cooking activities of cooks and kitchen staff to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency.

  • Ensure proper execution of menu items by monitoring cooking techniques, seasoning, portion sizes, and presentation.

  • Participate in menu planning and recipe development, including testing new dishes and refining existing offerings.

  • Assist in managing food inventory, including monitoring stock levels, placing requisitions, and ensuring proper storage and rotation of ingredients.

  • Enforce food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards in compliance with local health regulations and internal policies.

  • Train and guide kitchen staff on preparation methods, equipment usage, and safe work practices.

  • Coordinate kitchen workflow during peak service hours to maintain service timelines and minimize delays.

  • Address operational issues related to food preparation and quality, and communicate recommendations to the Head Chef for continuous improvement.


 

Prerequisites:

 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.

Experience & Skills: 5 years or more in the Food Industry or equivalent.

Language: English

 

Hourly Rate: $36.60 to $38.00 for 30 to 40 Hours per week

Starting Date: As soon as possible

Terms of Employment: Fulltime and permanent
