Responsibilities and tasks

• Clean, peel, slice and prepare vegetables, fruits and other food items
• Prepare and portion simple food items
• Replenish condiments and supplies in work areas
• Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pans using dishwashers or by hand
• Sanitize and wash kitchen equipment, utensils and work surfaces
• Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas
• Remove kitchen garbage and trash
• Sweep, mop, wash and polish floors
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food preparation areas
• Assist cooks and kitchen staff with basic food preparation and kitchen support duties
• Follow sanitation, food safety and workplace safety procedures
