Nature of Employment: Permanent Full-Time, Flexible Hours, Early Morning, Evening and Weekend Availability Required

Hours: 40 hours per week

Salary: $21.00 per hour

Benefits: 4% vacation pay on an annual basis

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide in-home childcare within the employer’s private residence in Brampton, Ontario, ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of two school-aged children, ages 5 and 7. The ideal candidate will help create and support a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for the children, supporting their daily routines, development, and overall growth. The private household comprises of the two children and their parents who are also the employers.

Optional live-in housing is available to the caregiver at no cost but is not required for employment. This position has an immediate start date.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide in-home care to two school-aged children within the employer’s private residence in Brampton, ensuring their overall safety, well-being and development;
• Supervise and assist with daily care routines of children, including playtime, homework, meals, rest periods and transitions between activities, in accordance with parental instructions;
• Regularly communicate updates on progress and concerns of children to the employers;
• Prepare and provide meals and snacks tailored to the children’s dietary needs and preferences;
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe household environment by tidying children’s areas and performing light housekeeping tasks related to their care;
• Assist with dressing, personal hygiene, and other daily self-care routines as needed appropriate to each child’s age,
• Tend to the emotional well-being of children with verbal encouragement and appropriate support;
• Maintain children’s safety and promote the emotional well-being of children with verbal encouragement and appropriate support;
• Follow parents’ preferred methods for guidance and discipline;
• Organize and provide children with safe and engaging activities, such as reading, crafts, and outdoor play opportunities
• Pick up and drop-off children to and from school, extracurricular activities, and appointments as required (does not require driving);
• Keep brief daily notes or records on activities, meals, and general well-being when requested by the employer; and
• Other duties as required.

Minimum Skills Requirements:

• Completion of secondary school is required;
• Completion of a post-secondary degree, diploma or training program in childcare or a related field is an asset but not required;
• At least seven (7) months to one (1) year of prior experience in childcare is required;
• Previous experience as a childcare provider, nanny or related position is strongly preferred, but not required;
• Fluency in written and verbal English is required;
• Must be dependable, reliable, and have effective communication skills;
• Must be organized and have strong time management skills.
