Description
Job Duties:
- Install, inspect, activate, service, repair and replace natural gas and propane appliances and related equipment at residential and commercial client sites, within the scope of a valid Ontario G2 certificate.
- Work on gas-fired equipment with an input of up to and including 400,000 Btuh, including furnaces, boilers, water heaters and other equipment serviced by the company.
- Install and modify gas piping, venting systems, regulators, valves, controls and related components in accordance with applicable codes, TSSA requirements and manufacturer specifications.
- Diagnose and repair burners, ignition systems, gas valves, thermostats, electrical controls and other components of gas-fired equipment.
- Perform gas leak, pressure, combustion and venting tests using appropriate testing and diagnostic instruments, and adjust equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Review work orders, drawings and equipment specifications to plan installations, determine required materials and complete assigned service calls.
- Perform routine maintenance and safety inspections, identify unsafe conditions and explain required or recommended repairs to clients.
- Complete service reports, document parts and materials used, and follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
Requirements:
Credentials: A valid Ontario TSSA Gas Technician 2 (G2) Certificate of Qualification is required and must be maintained in good standing throughout employment.
Experience: Previous field experience with gas-fired appliances is an asset.
Language: Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, is required.
Education: Secondary school diploma or equivalent, together with completion of the training and certification requirements for a valid Ontario G2 Gas Technician certificate.
Other requirements:
- Knowledge of applicable gas codes, TSSA requirements and safe work procedures is required.
- Ability to read equipment specifications, manufacturer instructions, work orders and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to use testing and diagnostic equipment safely and accurately.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to travel to residential and commercial client sites throughout Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area.
- A valid Ontario driver’s licence and a satisfactory driving record are required.
- Ability to perform the physical duties of the position, including lifting and carrying tools, materials and equipment, and working in basements, mechanical rooms and other restricted or hard-to-access work areas.
