First – Sous Chef

Description

We are looking for a well experienced First – Sous Chef for Magna Golf Club located at 14780 Leslie Street Aurora, ON L4G 7C3 Canada.

Duties:

Prepare and cook meals and specialty dishes during peak service periods, large functions, and high-profile events to maintain quality and timing.
Support the Executive Chef in planning, directing, and overseeing all food preparation and cooking activities for member dining, tournaments, and private events.
Act as the senior kitchen lead in the Executive Chef’s absence, assuming responsibility for service execution, staff supervision, and operational decisions.
Supervise and coordinate the daily work of sous chefs, chef de parties, cooks, and kitchen support staff to ensure efficient workflow and consistent standards.
Enforce culinary standards for food quality, presentation, portion control, and service pace across all kitchen operations.
Plan daily production schedules and mise en place requirements based on reservations, event bookings, and forecasted volume.
Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu execution, seasonal offerings, and special event menus, ensuring operational feasibility.
Assist with estimating food and labour requirements and support cost control through staffing coordination, portion management, and waste reduction.
Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations by enforcing safe food handling and cleanliness standards.
Train, mentor, and evaluate kitchen staff, supporting skill development, performance accountability, and consistent execution.

Prerequisites:

Education: Bachelor’s in Hotel Management or equivalent experience

Experience: 5+ years or more in the food industry

Hourly Wage: $36 — $38 per hour for 30 to 40 Hours per week

Terms of Employment: Fulltime and permanent
