• Location: NE10-45-06-W4, SE28-45-04-W4 and NW22-46-05-W4, Wainwright, AB T9W 1S8
• Work location: On site
• Salary $20.00 hourly / 42.5-50 hours per week
• Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time, Day, Weekend, Overtime required
• Starts as soon as possible

Job Requirements

Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years

On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Work site environment: Hog and pig farming, Dusty, Hot, Noisy, Odours

Work setting: Rural area

Area of specialization: Swine

Work conditions and physical capabilities: Work under pressure, Physically demanding, Attention to detail, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Large workload

Supervision: 1 to 2 people

Equipment and machinery experience: Automated manure handling or storage system, Feeding and watering system, Farm truck

Personal suitability: Organized, Team player

Job Duties

• Conduct artificial insemination and spraying or shearing of livestock or disinfecting pens, barns or poultry houses
• Handling animals, Marking livestock as proof of ownership
• Monitoring animal health, Treat livestock health issues
• Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration
• Carry out a pasture or pen breeding programs, Formulate feeding program
• Co-ordinate and supervise the work of general farm workers and harvesting labourers
• Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed
• Maintain livestock performance records, Select livestock for sale
• Supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs
• Maintain work records and logs, Organize tasks to accomplish the work, Perform general farm duties
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
• Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns, pens and chicken coops
