Description

We are looking for an experienced Ethnic Food Cook – Kosher for Apex Kosher Catering located at 100 Elder St, North York, ON M3H 5G7, Canada.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare and cook complete kosher meals and traditional Jewish ethnic dishes in strict accordance with kashrut dietary laws, ensuring authenticity, consistency, and high culinary standards.

  • Follow all kosher food handling protocols, including proper segregation of meat and dairy, sourcing approved kosher ingredients, and using designated cooking equipment and utensils for each food category.

  • Verify that all raw materials, packaged goods, spices, and supplies carry acceptable kosher certification before use, ensuring full compliance with kosher regulations.

  • Maintain separate workstations, storage areas, cutting boards, tools, cookware, and serving equipment for meat, dairy, and pareve items to prevent any risk of cross-contamination.

  • Prepare ethnic kosher specialties for Shabbat dinners, holiday celebrations, simchas, catered functions, corporate events, and community gatherings, meeting production schedules and event-specific requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with the mashgiach to ensure all kitchen operations satisfy rabbinical oversight, kosher certification standards, and organizational expectations.

  • Cook customized meals for clients with additional dietary needs, allergies, health restrictions, or cultural requirements, adjusting recipes and techniques as needed.

  • Guide and supervise kitchen helpers during preparation and production tasks, ensuring strict adherence to kosher procedures, safety standards, and food quality expectations.

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations including food preparation timelines, cooking processes, batch production, and event-based output to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records for kosher ingredients, supplies, and equipment, ensuring proper labeling, rotation, and storage in accordance with kosher storage rules.

  • Clean and sanitize all work areas, tools, equipment, and kitchen surfaces following kosher sanitation procedures and food safety requirements to maintain a compliant and safe kitchen environment.

  • Train new kitchen staff in kosher cooking techniques, safe food handling, sanitation standards, and the specific culinary protocols followed by Apex Kosher Catering.

  • Contribute to menu development for kosher meals by recommending ethnic dishes, determining portion sizes, adjusting recipes, and estimating food requirements for daily production and special events.

  • Monitor food quality, taste profiles, temperature, texture, and presentation to ensure all dishes meet the standards of authentic kosher cuisine and client expectations.

 

Prerequisites:

Education: Secondary (high) School graduation certificate or equivalent

Experience & Skills: 5 years or more experience in Food Industry

Language: English

 

Hourly Rate: $36 to $38 per Hour for 30 to 40 Hours per week

 

Starting Date: As soon as possible

 

Terms of Employment: Fulltime and permanent

 

Benefits: 4 % Vacation Pay,
