• Work location: On site
• Salary $18.34 hourly / 40-50 hours per week
• Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time, Early morning, Evening, Morning, Night, Day, Weekend, Overtime required
• Starts as soon as possible

Job Requirements

Languages: English

Education: No degree, certificate or diploma

Experience: Experience an asset

On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Work site environment: Dairy

Work setting: Rural area

Equipment and machinery experience: Milking system (automated), Tractor, Farm truck

Area of specialization: Dairy cattle

Transportation/travel information: Public transportation is not available

Work conditions and physical capabilities: Ability to work independently, Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Physically demanding, Repetitive tasks, Attention to detail, Handling heavy loads, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Large workload, Hand-eye co-ordination

Job Duties

• Milk cows
• Handling animals
• Monitoring animal health
• Detect disease and health problems in livestock
• Treat livestock health issues
• Perform livestock feeding
• Prepare a clean, dry area for cows that are calving
• Monitor the calving process
• Feed and tend animals
• Formulate feeding program
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment (including milk pasteurizer and filtration machines)
• Disinfect pens and barns
• Clean barns, barnyards and pens
• Maintain livestock performance records
• Examine product for quality and its readiness for the market
• Packaging dairy products
• Clean and maintain equipment and tools
• Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed
• Perform general farm duties
