(Chef De Cuisine)

We are looking for experienced Chef De Cuisine to join our team at Mother Tongue. Located at 166 Jozo Weider Blvd, The Blue Mountains, ON L9Y 0V2, Canada.

JOB DUTIES:

 

  • Oversee all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with sanitary and food safety standards.

  • Select and utilize only the freshest ingredients in the preparation of all menu items, ensuring high-quality and visually appealing dishes.

  • Participate in and supervise food production during peak periods, including tasting and expediting, to ensure timely and consistent service.

  • Manage food and product ordering, maintain accurate inventory records, and implement strategies to reduce waste and control costs.

  • Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to recipes, preparation techniques, and safety procedures.

  • Maintain proper receiving, storage, and rotation of all food products (FIFO), verifying appropriate labeling, dating, and temperature controls.

  • Collaborate with the kitchen leadership team to maintain organization, evaluate staff performance, and provide continuous training opportunities.

  • Monitor and enforce cleanliness and sanitation standards across all kitchen stations in accordance with health department regulations.

  • Ensure all stations are properly set and equipped prior to service and oversee any necessary adjustments.

  • Support high standards of customer service, particularly when working in guest-facing areas.

  • Coordinate with the Executive Chef on product concerns to maximize utilization and maintain quality standards.

  • Take on Chef responsibilities as delegated and perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or ownership.

  • Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless communication and service execution between kitchen and dining room.

  • Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and market trends to enhance the dining experience.

  • Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate kitchen goals, address challenges, and reinforce high performance standards.

  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and coordinate repairs or replacements when needed to avoid service disruptions.


 

Prerequisites:

 

Education: Secondary Certificate or equivalent 

Experience & Skills: 2 year to less than 3 years of experience 

Language: English


 

Hourly Rate: $26 to $34.10 per Hour for 30 to 40 Hours per week

 

Starting Date: As soon as possible

 

Terms of Employment: Fulltime and permanent

 

Benefits: 4 % Vacation Pay, Dental & Healthcare
