Commodore’s Boats is a full-service shipyard with over 50 years of generational history and experience on the West Coast of British Columbia, Canada. We are a full scale shipyard specializing not only in wooden boat repair and maintenance but all marine restoration, repair, and construction. We are looking for an experienced Carpenter to join our team.

• Position: Carpenter
• Work Hours:  40 hrs. per week
• Wage: $33.00
• Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
• Start date: ASAP
• Benefits: 4% vacation pay, Extended medical benefits
• Work Location: reporting to main office located at 6911 Graybar Road, Richmond, BC, V6W 1H3.

Key duties and Responsibilities

• Determine the day’s work, and obtain plans and blueprints for each project to assess required tools, equipment, and supplies, and make arrangements to have them procured;
• Follow instructions to saw or cut wood pieces according to provided instructions for each project and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, aluminum, fiberglass and other materials;
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems;
• Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware;
• Build, maintain, repair and renovate wooden boats;
• Gather all supplies and tools at the end of the day and ensure that they are put away in a safe and accessible place;
• Oversee inventory of supplies and tools and communicate low stock situations to the carpenter;

Requirements/Education and other requirements

• Completion of secondary school is required
• At least 2-3 years of experience working as a Carpenter or Apprentice Carpenter required
• Organized, self-disciplined, motivated and able to work independently
• Interpersonal communication skills, communicate effectively both written and orally
• A strong commitment to team culture, positive attitude
