Company Description:
LD Hardwood and Stair has been serving the GTA community since 2021 with its high-quality stair and flooring. We not only install, refinish, and refurbish engineered and hardwood stair and floor, we also provide custom-cut and arrangement of floor, stair, posts, railings, treads, metal spindles, fireplace, built-in media wall, etc.
We are looking to expand our business with more custom hardwood projects and are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic member to join our team.
Job Duties:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of hardwood, wood substitutes, engineered woods, lightweight steel and other materials using hand tools, power saws, and other carpentry/ woodworking machinery.
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, engineered and hardwood floor, stair, railings, posts, treads, metal spindles, etc.
- Fit and install floors, stairs, mouldings, hardware, etc.
- Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites, measure and mark reference points on materials.
- Survey building locations and levels.
- Estimate costs and materials.
- Operate CADD and other computer software systems, inspect and ensure safety and proper functioning of equipment, structure and materials.
- Maintain, repair and renovate private residences and commercial establishments.
- Inspect completed jobs to ensure quality control.
Employment Requirements:
- Minimum education: College diploma
- Minimum experience: 2 to 3 years of work experience in carpentry.
- Good attention-to-detail, accurate, punctual, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work for shift or on-call work.
- Able to work in noisy, dusty, at-height environment.
- Able to do physically demanding tasks like carrying machines, tools, materials.
- Basic English communication skills are required.
- Willing to relocate to Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
