Job Description:
DIAMOND PRECAST CONCRETE AND CASTING LTD. is hiring one Full-time Boom Truck Crane Operator to join their team in Burnaby, British Columbia as soon as possible.
Job Duties:
- Operate a commercial flatbed truck equipped with a truck-mounted knuckleboom crane to transport and deliver precast concrete products, construction materials, and related loads to construction sites and other designated locations.
- Operate the truck-mounted knuckleboom crane to safely lift, load, unload, move, and position precast concrete products and other materials at the employer’s yard and customer or construction sites.
- Set up the crane-equipped truck for lifting operations by safely positioning the vehicle, deploying stabilizers or outriggers where required, and assessing the work area before operating the crane.
- Determine appropriate lifting and handling procedures based on the weight, dimensions, balance, and placement requirements of the materials being handled.
- Select, inspect, and use appropriate rigging, lifting, and load-securement equipment, including slings, chains, straps, and tie-downs, and ensure loads are properly balanced and secured.
- Drive the crane-equipped flatbed truck between the employer’s yard, construction sites, and customer locations and follow assigned delivery routes and schedules.
- Perform and document pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the truck and crane, including brakes, tires, lights, hydraulic systems, crane controls, boom components, safety devices, and load-securement equipment.
- Coordinate with dispatchers, yard personnel, site supervisors, and customers regarding delivery schedules, site access, lifting requirements, unloading locations, and placement of materials.
- Complete required driver logs, delivery records, bills of lading, crane inspection records, vehicle inspection reports, and other transportation and operational documentation.
- Monitor and maintain the safe operating condition of the truck and knuckleboom crane, perform routine checks and minor maintenance where appropriate, report defects requiring repair, and comply with applicable crane, transportation, traffic, occupational health and safety, and company requirements.
Employment requirements:
- Completion of secondary school is required.
- Valid B.C. Class 3 commercial driver's licence is required.
- Valid air-brake endorsement is required.
- Valid CraneSafe certification – Level A, or equivalent crane operator certification recognized in British Columbia, is required.
