Description

We are looking for an Automation Technician  with extensive experience in the Chocolate Industry.

 

General Duties:

•              Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated production equipment and systems

•              Reactive Maintenance Supervision

•              Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance of machinery

•              Minimize production downtime

•              Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and implement automation improvements

•              Install, program, and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs)

•              Read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams

•              Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and address them promptly

•              Fabricate and assemble components as needed for automation systems

•              Document all maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and upgrades

 

Detailed Duties:

 

Trikno Depositor Support

•              Minimize Production Downtime

•              Reactive Maintenance Supervision and Execution

•              Design, Develop and Implement a Preventative Maintenance program specific to the Trikno depositor

•              Managing the English/German communication between Chewters and Trikno

•              Applying confectionary industry experience to improve and automate operation and processing systems of the Trikno Depositor

•              Management of SOP creation and Training Documentation specific to the TRIKNO Depositor

•              Assistance in training production mechanical changeover, and of Millwrights and Operators

•              Responsible for maintaining food safety in work responsibilities and report food safety issues to QA immediately

 

Commissioning of Equipment and Automation Upgrades

•              Responsible for up/downloads of software applications on Allen Bradley and Siemens PC + PLC hardware platforms

•              Perform risk analysis on systems and operational procedures

•              Review and comment Engineering modification documents

•              Perform mechanical and electrical modification on equipment

•              Follow supplier and/or Engineering FMI (Failure Modification Instruction)

•              Communicate with Maintenance Technicians, Maintenance Manager, and technical services team to report issues and transfer logs for investigations

•              Perform employee training for operation, cleaning and maintenance on site. Explain the function and performance of the equipment in classroom events and hands on at the machinery

•              Assist in the designing, developing and implementation of the Preventative Maintenance program

•              Assist in the management of SOP creation and Training Documentation for

chocolate processing systems

•              Investigate the causes of electromechanical equipment and subsystem failures,

and work with appropriate team members and suppliers

•              Troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical and electronic systems to identify malfunctions, and address problems and failures within the electro-mechanical and electronic system

•              Assist In the repair, rework, and calibrate electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic

assemblies and systems to meet operational specifications end tolerances

•              Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical orders to troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic equipment

•              Conduct necessary static and dynamic testing using electronic diagnostic equipment, uploads and upgrades operational software

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

•              Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Degree or Automation Certificate

•              Minimum of 10  years experience as a technician/engineer in maintenance or automation, specifically for the confectionary industry

•              Full fluency in English and German in both verbal and written forms for communication between Swiss and German equipment suppliers.

•              Understanding of chocolate and confectionary equipment and process systems including; PLC, Communications, Electrical and Mechanical for process steps such as; Melting, Tempering, Depositing, Decorating, Demoulding and Packaging

•              Able to effectively and positively work Independently and as part of a team including; maintenance technicians, maintenance manager, manufacturing managers, and industrial engineer

•              Installation, commissioning and maintenance oversight, and knowledge of complex confectionary equipment and advanced technology processing machines such as Knobel, Bosch, Solllch and Trikno

•              Understanding of electronic schematic diagrams, blueprints and pneumatic/hydraulic systems

•              Ability to refer to quality specification forms to verify that product comply with required standards for dimensions, material compositions and tolerance levels for strength, durability and stress tests

•              Ability to assess condition of damaged mechanical equipment and make recommendations for repair or replacement. Compare condition of each Item before and after damage, consider cost and feasibility of repairs in compliance with codes and regulations and examine advantages of replacing equipment.

•              Assess suitability of new equipment as needed for installations and repairs.

•              Knowledge of advanced PLC programming including Allan Bradley, ControlLogix/RS Logix, Siemens S7. Knowledge of robot systems (ABB, Delta, Fanuc). Basic knowledge of computer networking, Ethernet connections, TCP/IP protocol. Experience with the use of statistical analysis software and computer-assisted design, manufacturing and machining.

•              Able to work flexible shifts, day, evening, overnight and weekend shifts
