Position: Retail Store Manager/Supervisor

Canadian Tire 480 in Powell River is locally owned and operated and is seeking a Retail Store Supervisor to support the day-to-day operation of the retail store. The successful candidate will provide leadership to retail sales staff, support excellent customer service, coordinate departmental activities and ensure that store standards, sales objectives and operational requirements are consistently met.

The position requires a hands-on supervisor who is comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment, supporting employees, resolving customer concerns and assisting management with the efficient operation of the store.

Main duties

·       Supervise and coordinate cashiers, sales and customer service staff and assign daily duties.

·       Prepare staff schedules according to business needs, seasonal requirements and staffing levels.

·       Train, coach and support employees, assist with new employee orientation and monitor performance.

·       Maintain high customer service standards and resolve customer complaints, concerns and escalated issues.

·       Oversee cash-handling procedures, payments, returns and other front-end transactions.

·       Assist with inventory control, merchandise receiving, ordering and maintaining store displays and presentation standards.

·       Coordinate daily departmental activities, including seasonal changes, promotions and operational priorities.

·       Work with management and loss prevention to address security concerns and maintain a safe and respectful environment for customers and employees.

·       Prepare reports relating to sales, merchandising and personnel matters and communicate operational issues to management.

·       Assist with store opening and closing procedures and perform key-holder duties when required.

·       Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable health and safety requirements.

·       May perform the same retail, cashier and customer service duties as employees supervised when required.

Employment requirements

• Completion of secondary school is required.
• Recent (last 3 years) minimum 1 year of big box retail supervisory, leadership and/or managerial experience, operations management or relevant experience is a must.
• Recent (last 3 years) minimum 2 years of recent full-time retail sales experience as a retail salesperson or salesclerk, cashier or rental agent is required.
• Ability to work shifts (days, evenings, weekends and holidays)
• Approachable
• Ability to handle physical demands including standing/walking for 8 hours while frequently lifting and carrying items, using a ladder, twisting, turning and reaching
• Ability to plan, organize, communicate, delegate and follow up team’s activities and projects
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to find solutions to problems, adapt and cope with challenging situations and make difficult decisions
• Ability to operate cash register (asset)
