Karbon is a Canadian performance apparel company specializing in the design, development, and production of technical ski wear, winter outerwear, and sportswear. We focus on creating high-performance garments for demanding winter sports and outdoor environments, emphasizing technical construction, fit, durability, functionality, and overall performance. 

We are seeking a candidate with a strong interest in technical, performance-driven product development within the performance apparel industry. Experience in ski, outdoor, or performance sportswear is considered a strong asset. The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of garment fit, construction, and functionality in demanding environments and is detail-oriented in identifying and solving technical product challenges at a detailed level. As part of the Design and Development team, the role involves garment fittings, product evaluation, material assessment, technical specification review and product refinement throughout the development process. This is a hands-on, on-site role requiring close collaboration with design, development, production, and manufacturing partners to ensure products meet performance, quality, and fit standards.

Job Duties

  • Coordinate with Karbon’s Design and Product Development team to develop technical performance outerwear, ski wear, and sportswear collections from concept to production.
  • Create, maintain, and update technical packages (tech packs), including garment specifications, construction details, measurement charts, grading, BOMs, and workmanship standards to ensure all products meet performance, fit, quality, and functional requirements.
  • Measure and evaluate different stages of samples, including prototypes, salesmen, pre-production, and production garments, to ensure compliance with approved specifications and fit standards.
  • Participate in garment fittings, conduct technical fit analysis, document fit comments, and communicate revisions to overseas factories and vendors.
  • Recommend technical improvements to garment construction, fit, fabric applications, and performance features to enhance product functionality, comfort, and durability.
  • Review and approve garment fit, construction, stitching, trims, components, and workmanship to maintain technical and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical design, fit, and construction issues throughout sampling to production stages.
  • Support product development timelines by monitoring sample delivery status, coordinating sample reviews, communicating with suppliers, and ensuring timely implementation of technical revisions.
  • Perform other related technical design and product development duties as required.

Employment Requirements

  • College diploma or university degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Fashion Production, or a related field
  • 2 – 3 years of experience in Men's, Women's, and Kid’s apparel product development or technical design within the technical ski outerwear, sportswear, or performance apparel industry 
  • Strong understanding of technical apparel performance, garment construction, fit, grading, and apparel manufacturing processes
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency in tech packs, BOMs, MAC environment, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; experience with offshore development, manufacturing and vendor communication is considered a strong asset.
