Description
Job duties:
– Driving and operating heavy dump trucks, to transport loose waste materials, debris, or materials to landfills, transfer stations, or material recovery facilities
– Performing mandatory inspections of vehicle systems, equipment, and accessories — including tires, lights, brakes, and hydraulic dumping mechanisms
– Managing the loading/unloading of waste materials and ensuring the load is properly secured according to safety regulations
– Navigating set routes to pick up commercial or residential waste, adjusting for traffic conditions
– Communicating with dispatchers, and maintaining accurate logs of cargo information, hours of service, and distance traveled
– Lubricating, refueling, and performing minor emergency repairs on the vehicle, reporting major malfunctions to supervisors
