Health Care Aides

Adaptacare Personal Care Homes Inc is seeking for six (6) reliable, EXPERIENCED, and compassionate Health Care Aides to work with our senior residents in a private; 60 bed-full-capacity-supportive living facility located at 1821 13St North Lethbridge, Alberta Canada.

 

This is for a term/contract 12 month-period of full-time secure employment with a strong possibility of a full time continuing employment based on meeting or exceeding job expectations..

 

Work hours per week: 32 hours per week

 

Employment conditions:

 

Positions available are for working ALL weekends, Days, Nights and Evenings; on Call; Early Morning

 

Start Date: ASAP

 

Credentials

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, Nursing Aide Certificate,Health Care Aide Certificate Basic security clearance, Criminal Record Check, ImmunizationRecords. MUST hold a valid and active registration with Alberta HCA Registry. 

 

Education Requirements

College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 monthsto less than 1 year

 

Essential Skills

Takes resident’s blood pressure, temperature and pulse; Weigh, lift, turn and position residents; Supervise resident’s exercise routines; Administer suppositories; colonic irrigationsand enemas; Bathe, dress and groom residents; Transport residnets in wheelchair or commode; Answer call signals; Collect specimens; Accompany resindents on outside recreational activities and perform other duties related to resident care and comfort. Administer first aid in emergency situations.

 

Experience

 

Minimum 5 years equivalent of verifiable full time hours work experience.

Preference is given to those with full time work experience providing direct personal care to seniors and/or persons with disabilities or chronic medical conditions in a continuing care facility setting.

Work Settings

Nursing Home/home for the aged. Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, repetitivetasks, physically demanding, manual dexterity, attention to detail, ability to distinguishbetween colours, sound discrimination, standing for extended periods, combination ofsitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling and walking.

 

Additional Skills

Supple and empty bed pans; Serve meal trays and feed residents; Make beds and maintain residents rooms; Maintain inventory of supplies
