Valencia Theater Seating is a leading provider of home theater seating. Valencia has been at the forefront in the development of automated home theater seating. Founded in Hamilton, Ontario in 2006, then we moved to Oakville to better serve the Toronto and GTA home theater market.

We are looking for someone experience in IOT (internet of things) to design, develop and integrate IOT functionality for our Home Theater Seating product line so that Customer can control their seats from APP as well as from online and to integrate the seating into automation systems.

Key Responsibilities include:

Research and Program Manager is expected to lead with advanced knowledge in hardware and IoT application engineering principles and methodologies, to drive urgent, complex, and cross-functional product development.

Research and Development

• Research, prototype, and deliver new and innovative IoT solutions for the home theater seating product line
• Act as a SME of the Valencia IoT development program, lead the effort in design and development of home theater seating control application, firmware and software integration, and extended connectivity with Smart Home systems such as Google Home, Apple HomeKit
• Participate in validating Valencia device design, firmware and software architecture for internal testing and customer use, UI quality, and providing feedback to development teams to improve product usability and quality
• Provide after-sales product support to IoT customers worldwide, including code review and update, architecture discussion, and analysis of wireless communication packet trace or debug log & reproduction of complex software issues
• Write technical collateral, including knowledge base articles, quick start guides, application notes, and code examples

Program Management
• Draft project timeline with internal stakeholders, plan resources and oversee the delivery progress, manage project budget to avoid overburn
• Work with customers, sales and marketing teams to capture requirements and project priorities
• Liaise with external stakeholders and suppliers to analyze device qualification requests, as well as keep abreast of any supplier firmware changes or updates that could impact software performance
• Guide, manage, and be a key point of support for Valencia’s on-site deployment teams, being a key team member in the timely fulfillment of customer orders
• Set up and execute mechanisms for Valencia Seating testing and quality assurance processes to ensure the reliable performance of Valencia products

Basic Qualifications include:
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or a related field
• 7+ years of experience building hardware and software for embedded systems and IoT solutions and 5+ years of experience leading and managing an IoT development program
• Project Management Professional Certificate Preferred
• Multitasking and adaptability to changing project, priorities and market demands
• Knowledge of software application development environment and tools
• Experience collaborating with design and cross functional teams to make the complex simple for the user
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with different functional groups, including remote teams
• Entrepreneurial spirit, with track record for delivering results in fast-moving and demanding environments
• Team orientation and willingness to roll up sleeves to solve complex, dynamic challenges
• Good understanding of networking concepts (wired or wireless protocols, OSI model, etc.)
• Good understanding of wired and wireless communication channels, including Cellular, Wifi, RF, LoRa, and others
• Skill set in computer networking which includes LANs, hubs, routers, network settings, etc
• Experience conducting technical trainings
• Experience with UDP and internet application protocols such as CoAP
