Early Childhood Educator
Academics preKindergarten Westwood Inc. in Coquitlam, BC is looking for a Full-time, Permanent Early Childhood Educator.
Conditions
- Position: Early Childhood Educator
- Full-time, Permanent Position, 30-40 hours per week (shifted schedule)
- Hourly Wage: $22.00 – $26.20 per hour (wage to be determined based on experience and skills)
- Vacation: 10 days of paid vacation per year or 4% gross salary
- Benefit: Extended health and dental plan after probation, RRSP and DPSP after one year, 80 paid sick hours, reimbursable ECE training, and first aid certification costs, family tuition benefits

Requirements:
- Previous work experience in child care is an asset
- Education: College Diploma in early childhood education or Bachelor’s Degree in child development is required
- Credentials: First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, and ECE (Early Childhood Educator) Certificate
- Criminal Record Check
- Language: English
Job Duties;
- Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children using ECE principles and values
- Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
- Lead activities and engage children by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, demonstrating the use of simple musical instruments, and preparing crafts with appropriate curriculum
- Provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
- Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents, and attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
- Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
- Plan, maintain and build an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children and promote trusting relationships with children, parents and teammates in a professional manner
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers, community service providers working with children and maintain compliance with BC’s childcare regulations
