Butcher Responsibilities:

• Cut, trim, bone and otherwise prepare custom and/or standard cuts of meat, poultry, fish and shellfish for sale at self-serve counters or according to customers’ orders.
• Cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment and ensuring displays and signage are accurate and attractive.
• Weighing, packaging, pricing, and displaying products.
• Keeping records, budgets, and inventory.
• Performing quality inspections on meats and other products.
• Negotiating and confirming orders with suppliers.
• Adhere to Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and food safety standards.
• Greeting and speaking to customers, providing advice, answering questions, and accepting orders or payments.
• May supervise, direct work or train other butchers, meat cutters or fishmongers.

Qualifications:

• Completion of a secondary school is required.
• High customer service and satisfaction level is a must.
• At least three years of previous experience as a butcher.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule that includes mornings, days, evenings, and weekends to meet urgent deadlines.
