Job requirements

Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: Experience an asset

Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots

Personal suitability: Efficient interpersonal skills, Flexibility, Judgement, Organized, Reliability, Team player

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: AZ class license

Type of trucking and equipment: Flatbed, Logging, highway, Tractor-trailer

Transportation/travel experience: International, Local, Long-haul, Short-haul

Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment

Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trans-border documentation

Tasks:

Arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations, Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, Drive lighter, special purpose trucks, Load and unload goods, Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Pay and receive payments for goods, Perform brake adjustments, Perform emergency roadside repairs, Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle, Perform preventive maintenance, Receive and relay information to central dispatch, Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption, Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo

Security and safety: Basic security clearance, Driver's validity licence check, Driving record check (abstract)

Transportation/travel information: Willing to travel cross-border

Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail, handling heavy loads, large workload, Overtime required, physically demanding, Repetitive tasks, Sitting
