Position
Registered Early Childhood Educator

Job Type
Permanent position, Full-time, 40 hours/week

Responsibilities
– Understand and comply with provincial, municipal and Sunrise Guidance Policies and requirements.
– Plan and implement a consistent child-centered program and activities in accordance with Montessori curriculum.
– Co-ordinate the programming of the Classroom program with the Early Learning and Childcare curriculum.
– Organize and implement activities of the children as outlined in program plans; including components required by the Childcare and Montessori curriculum, such as reading stories, teaching songs, art painting, dramatic play, music and physical activities, etc.
– Observe and keep records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, and medications administered; prepare reports for parents, guardian and supervisor, and make recommendations to support future development and success.
– Instruct children in health and personal habits such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.
– Support children’s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
– Maintain positive relationship with parents and colleagues; work with families by providing feedback on children’s development.
– Assist with the physical condition of the child care facility, classroom set-up and arrangement to maintain an environment that protect the health, security and well-being of children.
– Plan and organize activities for before and after school program.
– Attend school regular meetings or trainings of child development, health safety and nutrition, working with families and communities etc.

Qualifications
Education – Early Childhood Education Diploma
Requirements – valid CPR (C) /First Aid Certification/ Vulnerable Sector Check /Up-to-date Immunizations
Experience – minimum 1 year RECE
Language – English
Licence – a member of the College of Early Childhood Educators
Wage
$22.50/hour inclusive of grants (Base $18.50/hour)
