Position: Payroll technician
Hours: 40 hours per week
Hourly Wage: $24.00-$25.00 (Depends on experience)
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Benefits: Extended medical insurance, Dental insurance and other benefits after 3months of probation

CONWEST Contracting is family owned business focusing on utilities, bulk excavation and civil works.
We are currently looking for a detail-oriented, organized and reliable Payroll Technician to join our team.

MAIN DUTIES:

• Be responsible for the timely completion of payroll and benefit deduction processing for an assigned employee group
• Identify, investigate, resolve and report on payroll, benefits or pension deduction problems
• Recognize potential payroll and benefit problems; investigate, resolve and report on problems as required
• Prepare and calculate cheques for payrolls, business and tax payables
• Perform complex calculations for a variety of situations such as new hires, leaves, position changes, and terminations
• Assist Controller with preparation and review of monthly financial statements
• Maintain/reconcile general ledger accounts, post journal entries and process all statutory and regulatory filings
• Prepare tax returns and perform various bookkeeping services
• Ensure accuracy with client and consultant profiles, including pay/billing rates and project/cost center codes
• Maintain and balance various accounts during Month/ Year End processes
• Provide management and sale department with financial and statistical reporting
• Self-initiative to learn our industry and business process
• Prepare workbooks, templates, letters and forms required for validating and coordinate the schedule in adherence to the payroll calendar deadlines

Employment requirements:
• Completion of Diploma/Degree in accounting, bookkeeping
• Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in payroll/accounting
• Attention to detail and highly organized
