Title of position: Painter – we are looking to fill 2 positions.
Job Duties:
– Read specifications to determine quantities of materials required
– Prepare and clean surfaces using methods such as scraping, sanding, sandblasting, hydro-blasting and steam-cleaning; remove old wallpaper and loose paint; repair cracks and holes in walls; and sandpaper and apply sealer
– Mix and thin paint to obtain desired colour and textures
– Apply paint or other materials, such as stains, lacquer, enamel, oil, varnish, fibreglass, metal coating or fire retardant using brushes, rollers or spray equipment
– Assemble and erect scaffolding and swing stages and ladders
– Install & later remove Christmas lights during winter season
– Operate power sanders, Graco Paint Sprayer & masking machines
– Mask off areas of work
– Fill out and keep up to date WSHA, Fall Arrest, Lift Inspection and Site Inspection Forms
– Drive between worksites and office
Terms of Employment: Permanent, full-time (40 hours/week)
Wages: $28/hour
Benefits: none
Vacation: 9.6% vacation pay
Location of work: Primary location: Unit 2 – 131 Bow Meadows Cres., Canmore AB, T1W 2W8. Secondary location: Various worksites in Canmore and the surrounding Bow Valley area, with an expected operating range of about 35 km.
Education requirements: High school diploma
Experience: over 6 months related experience with:
– Paint and stain application, brushing and rolling techniques
– Graco paint sprayer operation
– Experience understanding and filling out WSHA, Fall Arrest,
– Site Inspection Forms
– Operation of masking machines
– Erecting and operating ladders
– Operation of power sanders
– Set up and operation of fall arrest systems
Required skills and qualification:
Driver's licence
Must be able to work under minimal supervision
Excellent problem solving, decision making, job task planning and organizing skills
Language requirements: Spoken and written English required
