Live-in Caregiver Senior

As a live-in caregiver, your primary role is to provide personalized care to a senior male (95 years old). This includes taking care of his physical and mental needs and his overall well-being. The candidate will be professional and caring. The candidate must aid in personal care and companionship, while assisting with general daily activities of the family in the home. The candidate must be tolerant of smoking by the senior. The candidate must be comfortable with 2 dogs in the home.

Some daily tasks may include:

·       bathing and grooming, mouth care, toileting, dressing.

·       Preparing nutritious light meals and monitoring

·       Overseeing of medication and prescriptions usage

·       Following a predetermined care plan and noticing any changes in the individual’s health and reporting any differences

·       Helping in mobilization and exercise, help with getting up and sitting down using a walker

·       Providing companionship and general supervision

·       Completing regular risk assessments and constantly monitoring of household safety

·       Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties

·       Launder clothing and household linens

·       Assume full responsibility for household (in absence of householder)

Hours/Contract

full-time live-in position, 2-year contract, 40hrs/week

Salary

$13.50/hour 

Setting

You will be provided your own room to sleep. Meals are also included in the live-in position. 2 dogs live in the family’s home. Smoking environment. 

Qualifications

To succeed in the role of caregiver, the candidate must have the following:

·       MUST speak fluent English

·       Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience

·       Minimum. secondary education (Certificate/Diploma) from a recognized school or equivalent

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·       Ability to solve problems, and work independently

·       MUST be able to lift 90lbs as the senior male and requires occasional mobility assistance

·       CPR/AED certification an asset

COVID-19 considerations: All candidates must be fully vaccinated with a recognized vaccine by Canada (Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson)
