Responsibilities:

Personal Care Assistance:
- Provide compassionate and respectful assistance to children with their daily living activities, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Assist in mobility and transfers, ensuring the safety and comfort of the individual under your care.
- Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and document accurately.

Cultural and Language Support:
- Utilize fluency in Igbo language to effectively communicate with individuals.
- Teach and reinforce Igbo language skills through conversational practice and educational activities, promoting cultural identity and connection.

Emotional Support and Companionship:
- Foster a supportive and nurturing environment by engaging in meaningful conversations and actively listening to the individual's concerns.
- Offer companionship and emotional reassurance to promote overall well-being and mental health.

Household Management:
- Maintain a clean and organized living space by performing light housekeeping duties such as tidying up rooms, doing laundry, and washing dishes.
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks based on dietary preferences and restrictions, ensuring a healthy and balanced diet.
- Exhibit proficiency in preparing Igbo local dishes such as Oha soup, Bitter leaf soup, Ugba, Okpa, Ukwa, and Nsala soup.

Collaboration and Documentation:
- Coordinate care plans and activities with family members, and other caregivers to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain detailed records of care provided, including observations, changes in health status, and adherence to medication schedules.

Continuous Learning and Professional Development:
- Stay informed about best practices in caregiving, including techniques for providing culturally sensitive and language-specific care.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills related to caregiving and language instruction.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in caregiving preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in caregiving, preferably in a home care setting.
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing Igbo language is essential.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor with a genuine interest in the well-being of others.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Reliable and responsible with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and respecting privacy.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and handle challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.
