ABOUT THE OPPOTUNITY We are looking for Health Care Assistant to join our team of Hugs Health Services and help improve the lives of seniors in our community! As a Health Care Assistant, you will work with seniors in their homes and/or senior home facility helping promote independence and allowing them the choice to live life on their own terms.   Job Duties:

• Professional, adaptable communication style with strong interpersonal skills
• Dedicated to providing high-quality care services to clients and knowledge of practices for community care
• Provide meal preparation, light housekeeping, and/or provide companionship and personal care ,such as assisting patients with toileting, bathing, skin and hair care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, changing beds, patient positioning and mobilization.
• Lifts, transfers, porters and ambulates residents while maintaining comfort and good body alignment
• Encourages and assists residents to participate in social and recreational activities by reminding them of programs; assists resident with ambulation to attend recreational programs.
• Assists patients with meals by completing menu slips, checking meals to ensure the maintenance of dietary restrictions, serving and collecting meal trays and feeding designated patients
• Reports observed changes in resident activity level, behavior, or physical well-being to the Nurse
• Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers within established policies and procedures
• Ensures proper care and identification of resident’s personal effects, including clothing
• Follow Care Plans and maintain accurate client records utilizing the appropriate documentation
• Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of all relevant facility policies and procedures, including an understanding of the Fire Safety/Disaster Plan and ensures the safety of staff and residents
• Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATITONS

• Health Care Aide Certificate or Diploma (required)
• Valid Registry Number with the BC Care Aide Registry (required)
• Criminal Record Check (required)
• Current First Aid and Food Safe Certificates (preferred)
• BC driver’s license and reliable car (preferred)

Schedule:

• Night shift
• 8 hours shift
• 30 hours/week
• Weekend availability
